The Perfect Crime – Everyone Else Can Wait

NAME: The Perfect Crime
ALBUM: Everyone Else Can Wait
DATE: 16August2010

LABEL: Speechless Records

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Somewhere between emo and metal

LOCATION: Cambridgeshire, UK

LINE UP: Adam Mortaro: Vocals, guitar / Chris Robets: bass, backing vocals / Scott Campbell: drums, BVs

WHAT’S THE STORY?: The enticing artwork, a fabulous and artistic photo of a train line in a forest, draws in curious music fans to hear what’s printed on the other side of the CD, and opener “Hailstones” sits somewhere between the heavy riffage of Mastodon and “gay” emo guttural screams of My Chemical Romance. This is a band who wears their influences on their sleeves sludging through Deftones type slow yet heavy parts, Lost Prophets style melodic choruses and Paramore hints every so often. Perhaps their influences are far too clear…

Nevertheless, Everyone Else Can Wait has some splendid moments including the headbanging intro to Deliver Me Your Sins. There are some great ideas on here although it seems like for them to be executed properly the band still needs to grow a few musical inches. I look forward to their second release.

SOUNDS LIKE: Mastodon, My Chemichal Romance, Deftones, Lost Prophets, the heavier side of nu-metal

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: Heavier grunge, emo, the less manly side of metal
