Violent Soho – Jesus Stole My Girlfriend

NAME: Violent Soho
SINGLE: Jesus Stole My Girlfriend
DATE: 26July2010

LABEL: Universal Records

RATING: 3/5

FIVE WORD REVIEW: Aussier Rockers take on Jesus

LOCATION: Brisbane, Australia

LINE UP: Luke Boerdam (Vocals & Guitar) James Tideswell (Vocals & Guitar) Luke Henery (Bass) Michael Richards (Drums)

WHAT’S THE STORY?: The main problem with the latest single by Violent Soho, is that it doesn’t break any new ground in the rock world. It is highly possible that you could have turned on the radio five years ago and heard this song or something very similiar.
The theme tackled by the song, religion ruining a relationship is diverse, but is not handled with enough gusto to really convince us that they really believe in what they’re singing.
Also because of the high tempo of the song, and thus crashing guitars and thundering drums, the vocals become barely detectable throughout its three minutes.
There is potential here for Violent Soho, we just need to be able to hear what they’re singing about next time to see if we like it or not.

SOUNDS LIKE: Alot of rock bands at present with hints of Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World.

YOU’LL LIKE THIS IF: Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World and any high tempo rock with cunching guitars.
