FIVE WORD REVIEW: See it to believe it

MAIN REVIEW: Being a massive fan of their music and knowing their live reputation I was ecstatic to finally get tickets to one of their shows. Even after watching countless Youtube videos of Avi Shalev climbing on roof fixtures I was still not prepared for how amazing this show was.

As usual, Monotonix set up in front of the stage and crowd surfed, spat beer at everyone, emptied a bin over the drummer’s head. singer Avi Shalev also managed to go crowd surfing in a bin, use the bar as a stage and crowd surf whilst playing the floor tom. He probably spent more of the show on top of the crowd than on the floor!

The music was a wall of noise most the time and half the songs I didn’t recognise. Having said that they opened with a blindingly good version of Flesh and Blood and managed to rip through an awesome crowd pleasing Body Language. Despite not being able to pick out a lot of the songs, it was still highly entertaining and the band make the music secondary to the show.

Nothing really comes close to explaining how energetic and how brilliant their gigs are, you have to see them to believe it. Whilst I highly recommend everyone to go, please be aware you will come out covered in beer, sweat and probably have your own beer nicked by the singer to pour over someone’s head.
