Outside the legendary Brixton Academy, the line of rockers goes round the block. And it’s no surprise with a line up like this. As the place starts to fill up, ex-Wildhearts frontman Ginger takes the stage accompanied by his 5-piece band. His set is awash with upbeat hard rock that gets the burgeoning crowd nicely warmed up.
You’d think that being in two of the most successful hard rock bands of the past 15 years would be enough to quench anyone’s thirst for performing, but it’s clear Mark Tremonti, the second act on tonight’s bill, just cant get enough of it! With a roaring guitar chord he walks out to an almost full house and wastes no time in launching into his opening track. Mark’s set is a raucous mash of his trademark heavy riffs but with the pace and energy more reminiscent of speed metal. The fans lap it up from start to finish with a particular highlight being when the band slows things down for a couple of numbers. Overall Mark and his band do a superb job of ramping up the audience’s excitement for what promises to be an amazing headline act.
Slash, Myles and the Conspirators rip into their opener ‘Ghost’ moments after hitting the stage and the crowd are jumping! The band sound great as they progress through a set comprised of tracks taken from Slash’s debut, recent album ‘Apocalyptic Love’ and Guns N Roses staples such as ‘Sweet Child O Mine’ and ‘Nighttrain’. Slash’s live guitar playing has got even better in the past few years and with Myles on vocal and the Conspirators packing a tremendous hard rock punch the crowd are loving every second! It’s no wonder the band played two nights here as they went down a storm!
