Three weeks before Christmas and the pouring rain is belting off the roof of Brighton’s Concorde 2. But inside, there’s a growing crowd of eager if slightly damp fans awaiting the appearance of the first of tonight’s double headliners: Atlanta-based, Chris Jericho-fronted hard rockers Fozzy.
The band burst on stage to a hefty applause and kick off with several numbers from their recently released fifth studio album ‘Sin and Bones’ including the single ‘Sandpaper’. Despite sounding somewhat generic, Fozzy are tight and look like they are having a fantastic time on stage and really carry the crowd along with them, who seem to be having a great time.
It becomes clear when second headliner SOiL hit the stage that the majority of the crowd are here to see them. The band waste no time in launching into a fantastic set – opening with ‘Breaking Me Down’ – crammed with what they know everyone wants to hear. Frontman Ryan McCombs seems genuinely humbled at the response the band receives and makes it known several times how grateful they are for their fans support through the years. As the band begin their final song of the set, hit number ‘Halo’, Ryan disappears off stage only to emerge at the front of house and make his way into the crowd for a proper sing along with fans! The crowd lap it up, the security look concerned, and the night ends at fever pitch.
